Roof & wall panels

Standing Seam Metal Panels

Standing seam panels join along raised vertical seams, with the fasteners hidden beneath the seam instead of driven through the face of the panel. The result is a roof or wall with clean, continuous lines and no exposed screw heads.

Overview

What is standing seam?

Standing seam is the panel most people picture when they think of a modern metal roof, and it appears on everything from custom homes to commercial buildings. Builders specify it for the look. Contractors like that the attachment stays protected under the seam instead of sitting out in the weather.

WarHammer Metal supplies standing seam panels for residential and commercial projects. Send us the details of your job and we will confirm the profiles, gauges and finishes available for it.

Typical applications

  • Residential roofs on new homes and re-roofs
  • Commercial and light-commercial roofs
  • Porches, additions and accent roofs
  • Vertical wall cladding and accent walls
  • Canopies and covered entries

Characteristics

Key characteristics.

  • Concealed fastening

Panels are secured under the seam, through a fastening flange or with clips depending on the system, so the face of the panel stays clear.

  • Raised vertical seams

Seams stand above the flat of the panel, carrying water away from the joints and casting strong vertical shadow lines.

  • Long, continuous runs

Panels are typically produced to the length of the slope, which reduces or eliminates end laps on the roof.

  • Roof or wall

The same profile works as roofing and as vertical wall or accent cladding, so a building can carry one consistent look.

Questions

Common questions.

What is the difference between standing seam and snap-lock?

Snap-lock is one type of standing seam. Its seams lock together when one panel is pressed over the next, without a seaming tool. Other standing seam systems are mechanically seamed, meaning the seams are folded together with a seamer after the panels are installed. The right system depends on the roof and the project requirements.

Can standing seam panels be used on walls?

Yes. Standing seam is widely used as vertical wall cladding and for accent walls, especially when a building’s roof and walls are meant to read as one material.

Which profiles, gauges and colors are available?
